winning a grammy doesn’t mean a thing chris brown, doesn’t defy the fact that you remain set in your gendered, patriarchal ways and that you continue to perpetuate sexual violence through your musically packaged (corporate driven) language/image etc. 

and “this fuck it, im succeeding” trope doesn’t erase the fact that many young girls are caught up in the cycle of desensitizing rape culture, so this time its not about you at all

When you listen to Rihanna’s lyrics, she’s promoting the same thing. 

“‘Cause I may be bad, but I’m perfectly good at it

Sex in the air, I don’t care, I love the smell of it

Sticks and stones may break my bones

But chains and whips excite me”

What gets me angry about people who say stuff like that ^ is that most people don’t know the story that led up to the action. All you see is the aftermath, not what caused it. I know “it’s no excuse” but most people who say that have never been angry enough that it consumes them. There are instances where you cannot control your anger. And its in that instant that you do things that you may never forgive yourself for. You don’t even know, trust. I’m not saying that what he did was ok, I’m saying people make mistakes. And part of making mistakes is paying your dues. How much are we gonna make him pay?

It takes two. I’m gonna reveal something I’ve never revealed before, I’ve been on one side of a violent relationship, and I know what it’s like to be on BOTH ends of the punching bag. I’ve been in that instant of anger, I’ve done the crime, I’ve had the bruises, I’ve paid my dues and i’ve moved on. I can’t imagine how it would be like for someone like Christ Brown to have all your mistakes put out in public and never be able to live your life in peace ever again. I’m lucky enough to have my past in the past. Before you KNOW the situation, don’t ACCUSE and ASSUME because MOST OF THE TIME you HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE FUCK YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT!
